HYDERABAD: A division bench of the Hyderabad High Court has directed the MSP Granites Company not to go ahead with the mining activities for the next one week in view of the alleged illegal mining by the company at Sangamvalasa reserve forest area in Mulaga village of Vizianagaram district.
The bench directed the authorities concerned to conduct an enquiry whether the company was indulging in illegal mining activities and submit a report before the court.
The bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akther passed the orders while hearing a PIL filed by by M Prakash and another from Vizianagaram district alleging that the company had been carrying out mining the areas other than those specified by the authorities.
The petitioner’s counsel pointed out that the authorities had remained silent spectators by allowing the illegal mining activities.
The government counsel sought some time to respond to the plea.
The bench directed the authorities to submit a report on the issue and posted the matter to April 25 for further hearing.
