Improving district GDP tops agenda, says collector

SRIKAKULAM: K Dhanunjaya Reddy took charge as the collector of Srikakulam district on Friday from P Lakshmi Narasimham who has been posted as special commissioner of prohibition and excise (P&E).

Dhanunjaya Reddy, after assuming the office, said that improving the GDP of Srikakulam that has figured at the bottom among the districts in the state was his top most priority.

Kalva Dahnunjaya Reddy on Friday took charge at 12.10 pm in his chamber at collectorate. Hailing from Rayachoti in Kadapa district, earlier he who worked as director for agriculture department in Amaravati.

“Transparency in administration is my priority. Last fiscal, the Srikakulam figured at the bottom of the all 13 districts in the state in terms of GDP. Now, We will put out best effort to improve the rank. Needless to say, special attention will be given to the redress of the people’s grievances,” he told the media here.

Responding to a query on the long-pending projects in the district including Kovvada nuclear power project, Vamsadhara reservoir and Bhavanapadu port, he said that he would like to go through all the files first, before commenting over any issue.

Addressing the employees, he said that his aim was to ensure people-friendly administration to achieve the welfare targets set by the government. Dhanunjaya Reddy also has worked in commercial tax, industries and transports departments in New Delhi for 11 years.
