ELURU: Students, led by the ABVP, staged a dharna at the Collectorate here on Monday demanding construction of permanent buildings for the Government Degree College in the district headquarters. They also denounced the move to close down several schools and hostels in the State on the pretext of poor student strength. After the end of the dharna, the students tried to barge into the Collectorate premises. The police had a tough time in preventing the ABVP activists from entering the Collectorate premises. A scuffle ensure between students and police.
Tension prevailed at the place for sometime. About 10 ABVP leaders were arrested and shifted to the Three Town police station. Later, normalcy was restored at the Collectorate.
