CM Chandrababu Naidu's grinning face adorn poster-free Vijayawada

VIJAYAWADA: The city’s civic body may have declared Vijayawada poster-free, but bills bearing the image of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu continue to line the flyover located near Kaleswara Rao Market, just a stone’s throw away from the VMC.

Officials remain conveniently oblivious to this hypocrisy, turning a blind eye to the ‘Transforming Vijayawada’ advertisements.

A few months ago, youth and NGOs in the city joined hands and removed the posters on the busy stretches of Mahatma Gandhi road and Eluru road in the city. Hand paintings have been drawn to create a pleasant ambience in the city.

The bills that deface the flyover near Kaleswara Rao Market, looks exactly like posters, but technically isn’t. More importantly, the posters last much longer than the usual, thus serving the government’s purpose.

Youth and NGO workers who marched for a poster-free Vijayawada found fault with the Chief Minister’s posters on the railings of the flyover. When Express contacted VMC officials over the issue, they chose to stay mum.
