Bapatla Town Hall turns 112

GUNTUR: The Town Hall of Bapatla will be celebrating its 112th anniversary on Monday. The Town Hall constructed to commemorate the coronation of King Edward VII, was inaugurated by the then Guntur District Collector NS Brodie on July 17, 1905.

The First Andhra Conference was held at the Town Hall in 1913. The demand for creation of a separate State on linguistic basis was first raised at the Town Hall. The Andhra movement also originated here. It is a centre for social and cultural activities.
