VIJAYAWADA: Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa has said that the government will take stringent action against those resorting to attacks against scribes.
A high power committee meeting was organised in Interim Government Complex at Velagapudi on Monday to discuss the measures to be taken for preventing attacks against journalists.Asserting that the government will take legal action and will not spare those assaulting journalists, Chinarajappa said that the committee would be formed in district-level to look into the issue of attacks on journalists.
Directing the police personnel to expedite the probe into attack against scribe Nagarjuna Reddy at Chirala in Prakasam district and to submit a report at the earliest to punish the culprits, the Deputy Chief Minister also assured the cops of providing new video cameras to those who lost them in the attack during the `Kapu Garjana’ organised at Tuni, last year. The high power committee involving representatives from Home, Information and Public Relations departments and scribes will meet once in six months.
