VISAKHAPATNAM:  In a unique way, the city traffic police conducted an awareness drive on the usage of helmet and seat-belt for the vehicle users on Saturday evening.

The traffic police distributed chocolates at several city junctions to the drivers, urging them to fasten seat belts and wear helmet.

As many as 24 teams of traffic police were deployed at Poorna Market, Maddilapalem, Jagadamba and many other junctions.

The police teams stopped the four-wheeler drivers and bikers, who skipped the mandatory rules, interacted with them and asked them to use helmet and seat belts, explaining the possible dangers associated with it.
ADCP (Traffic) K Mahendra Patrudu said that they had neither booked any case nor imposed fine during the awareness programme.

It’s just passing a message to the public to take precautions while driving, he said.
