VISAKHAPATNAM: The Vizag Port will be soon developed as a logistics hub of Andhra Pradesh and it is marching ahead to achieve international recognition as a world class port, Visakhapatnam Port Trust chairman MT Krishna Babu said here on Tuesday.

Due to the Central government’s initiatives, the VPT is moving ahead to achieve good growth. There are plenty of opportunities for the entrepreneurs to make investments here, he said.
He also appealed to the investors across the world to invest in the Vizag port. Krishna Babu, in a media interaction here on Tuesday, explained various developmental activities undertaken by the port.
With the suggestions of international consultants, the VPT will be made an eco-friendly port. With the Union government’s support, the VPT has achieved 7 per cent growth rate in the last fiscal year and that will continue in the current financial year too, the VPT chairman said.
The port is well connected with road, water and air ways and it is developing on all fronts fast. In view of multifold growth of the port and the city area, all renowned shipping companies and top investors would come forward to invest here, he said.
“As it has good logistics strengths, the port will sign many MoUs with several national and international organisations soon,” revealed Krishna Babu.
VPT deputy chairman Haranadh, Customs Commissioner Sudhakar Mishra, DRM MS Mathur and several shipping company representatives were present.
