AP Government to reduce tax on petrol, diesel soon: Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu

VIJAYAWADA: Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu has said that the State government is contemplating to reduce taxes on petrol and diesel.As Gujarat and some other States have already reduced the taxes, the State government is also mulling the option of slashing taxes so as to bring down the prices of petrol and diesel, he said.

Addressing the officials of the Commercial Taxes Department here on Thursday, Yanamala said that the State has overcome the initial troubles due to the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Stating that the Commercial Taxes Department has already collected 44 per cent of the taxes out of the Rs 40,000 crore, the annual tax target, the Finance Minister said that the role of department is vital in achieving economic growth.

Speaking on the occasion, Commercial Taxes Commissioner J Syamala Rao said that despite removing the checkposts after GST coming into force, they have generated a revenue of Rs 40 crore. Commercial Taxes Department Special Chief Secretary D Sambasiva Rao and other officials were present.
