HYDERABAD: In a setback for the leader of the opposition in the AP Assembly and YSR Congress president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday set aside the petition filed by Jagan seeking exemption from appearing before the Special CBI court on further dates/hearings in the illegal assets case. He brought the ‘padayatra’ issue in the order to avoid his appearance before the CBI court, the court remarked.

Jagan has recently decided to begin a six-month long walk (padayatra) on October 27 from his ancestral village Idupulapaya in Kadapa district to Ichhapuram in Srikakulam district covering 3,000 km of the state. Already, the court granted him exemption from appearance in cases relating to Hetero and Arabindo companies. As he was an accused in other cases, Jagan moved the High Court seeking exemption from his appearance before the CBI court.
