ELURU: The ruling TDP MP, MLAs and leaders undertook padayatra here, demanding that the Centre accord special category status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh. The TDP workers and leaders led by Eluru MP Maganti Venkateswara Rao (Babu), MLAs Chintamaneni Prabhakar (Denduluru) and Badeti Kota Rama Rao (Bujji) (Eluru) reached Old Bus Stand Centre on Saturday morning and garlanded the bronze statue of Dr. BR Ambedkar on his 127th birth anniversary and paid tributes to Dalit icon.

Later the TDP leaders organised a public meeting at the Old Bus Stand Centre. Addressing the public meeting, the TDP leaders ridiculed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his fast for a day in protest against the disruptions in the Parliament. “Never in the history a Prime Minister observed fast. He is protesting against your own inability,” they alleged.

Eluru MP M Venkateswara Rao said, “TDP MPs thoroughly exposed the deceit of the NDA government in not fulfilling the promises made in AP Reorganisation Act, including granting of special category status to AP.” Eluru MLA Badeti Kota Ramarao, Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar, ZP chairman Mullapudi Bapiraju, MLC Ramu Surya Rao, Mayor Sheikh Noorjahan and AP Film Development Corporation chairman Ambica Krishna addressed the gathering.
