YSRC MLA Venkatasubbaiah passes away

KADAPA: Sitting YSRC MLA from Badvel Assembly constituency in Kadapa district, Dr G Venkatasubbaiah, 61, died of prolonged illness on Sunday. Venkatasubbaiah is survived by wife and two children.

Born in Vallelavaripalle of Badvel municipality in 1960, Venkatasubbaiah completed his MBBS from Kurnool Medical College and worked in several hospitals. He was a well known orthopedician in Kadapa and joined the YSRC in 2014. 

He was made the party’s Badvel constituency coordinator in 2016 and was given the party ticket to contest the 2019 elections from Badvel SC reserved constituency. He won with a majority of over 44,000 votes over TDP’s Dr Obulapuram Rajasekhar.

Venkatasubbaiah was diagnosed with cancer and was getting treatment for the past one year. Recently, he underwent treatment at a hospital in Hyderabad and came back to Kadapa. Venkatasubbaiah even participated in the campaign for the recently held elections to urban local bodies in the State.

As his health condition turned serious, he was shifted to a private hospital at Kadapa on Sunday morning where he breathed his last. Venkatasubbaiah’s mortal remains were shifted to the Badvel market yard for the people to pay their tributes and was later shifted to his residence at Cooperative Colony in Kadapa town.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy flew down to Kadapa in the afternoon and paid tributes to the departed leader. Jagan consoled the family members of the MLA and assured all support to them. Venkatasubbaiah’s wife Sandhya is a gynaecologist while their son is pursuing MBBS (fourth year) and daughter is an Intermediate student.

Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan, Opposition Leader N Chandrababu Naidu and various other leaders condoled the death of Venkatasubbaiah. Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Amzad Basha, Kadapa Mayor K Suresh Babu and others paid their last respects to the departed leader.
Venkatasubbaiah’s last rites will be performed with State honours in Kadapa on Monday morning.
