Two killed as boat capsizes in reservoir in Andhra Pradesh's Nandyal

Meanwhile, AP Tourism district officer Satyanarayana clarified that the boat wasn’t operated by department and was run by a private person.

KURNOOL: Two women were killed and one other remains missing after a boat carrying 14 members capsized in Owk reservoir in Nandyal district on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Noor Jahan (45) and Asiya (23), both residents of Koilakuntla town.

According to sub-inspector Jagadeeswara Reddy, the family of police head constable Rasul, working at the Special Branch of Nandyal district, reached Chennampalli village in Owk mandal to attend a wedding. Later, they decided to go for an outing to Owk Reservoir. Rasool had rented a tourist boat and entered into the water along with 12 family members. While on their boat ride, the boat suddenly capsized plunging all the 14 members, including women and children into the water.

Hearing their cries, the locals managed to save most of the family members, however, three went missing. The police launched a rescue operation and traced the two bodies. Police are still searching for Rasool’s daughter Shazia Bee.
