KAKINADA: A 22-year-old second-year MBBS student at Kakinada Rangaraya Medical College (RMC), identified as Ravuri Sai Ram, was found dead in his hostel room on Tuesday. He reportedly died by suicide, hanging himself from a ceiling fan. His hostelmates discovered the incident and informed the warden, who alerted the police.

Preliminary inquiry suggest academic stress and family issues as possible factors. There are also unconfirmed reports from students that he may have been emotionally distressed due to a romantic relationship with a first-year student.

Sai Ram, a resident of Lankabadiga village, West Godavari district, secured admission to the medical college in 2023. According to his professors and classmates, Sai Ram was known for being both innocent and academically brilliant.

Police inspected the scene and shifted the body to Kakinada GGH for postmortem. A case was registered, and an investigation is underway to probe Sai Ram’s personal and academic challenges.
