NEW DELHI: The United States Embassy in the national capital has warned US citizens to not visit Delhi's Khan Market following local media reports of a suspected bomb planted in the market on Friday morning.
The alert released by the US Embassy reads as, “Emergency Message for US Citizens”. It goes on to say, “Local media are reporting that police have received a call claiming that a bomb was planted in New Delhi’s Khan Market this morning. US Embassy New Delhi recommends that individuals monitor local media closely and avoid the Khan Market area until the police give the all clear.”
Security officials along with dog squads and a bomb disposal unit are investigating the shopping market. However, no suspicious movement has been discovered so far, news agency ANI reported.
According to the reports, the phone call regarding the bomb was received by the police control room around 6.40 am on Friday. The bomb threat call in the Delhi’s Khan Market is claimed to be made by an unidentified man from outside city.
