NEW DELHI: A city-bound SpiceJet flight from Pune was today delayed by nearly nine hours due to a crack on the plane's windshield.

The airline's flight SG 999 was scheduled for take-off at 7:20 am but it finally departed at 4:25 pm as spare parts and engineers had to be flown in from Delhi and Chennai to fix the crack.

"The men and material required to replace the windscreen were moved from Delhi and Chennai, but as the Pune runway was closed from 8 am to 10:30 am, the flight carrying spares landed at only 11:00 am," said an official statement.

SpiceJet did not share the number of passengers on board its aircraft. However, it said that some of the passengers were accommodated on other airlines.
