NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Cabinet met Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal on Friday to discuss the Februaury 19 alleged assault on Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash.
After the meeting, the Governor’s House said in a statement, “The LG strongly condemned the incidents and termed them most unfortunate. He noted that no government can fulfill its promises to people if employees feel demoralised and insecure. There is no place for violence in a democratic and civilised society.”
The Delhi government was also briefed about the meeting and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said the CM and LG “would talk to officers”.Kejriwal tweeted, “Officers not attending meetings for last 3 days. Governance suffering. I m v concerned. LG assured he will take all steps to ensure officers started functioning normally. Council of ministers assured him all cooperation. All of us need to work together for betterment of Delhi.”
Meanwhile, a Delhi court rejected the bail petitions of AAP MLAs Amanatullah Khan and Prakash Jarwal, who were arrested for allegedly assaulting Prakash. The court also rejected Delhi Police plea of their police custody saying there was no new ground for such interrogation.
On Friday, Delhi Police went to the CM’s house to collect evidence. Police confirmed there were no cameras in the room where the incident took place. “Seven of the 21 CCTV cameras in the house were not functioning,” said Harinder Singh, DCP North.
