NEW DELHI:  A Delhi Court on Friday extended three more days of police custody of six accused persons, arrested in connection with the killing of gangster Tillu Tajpuriya inside the high-security Tihar jail. The six accused were produced physically before Chief metropolitan magistrate Snighdha Sarvaria and the court conducted a closed courtroom hearing.

In order to interrogate them, the cops, in an application, sought three days extension of police custody, on which the custody of the accused was allowed till May 15. On May 8, the court sent four accused initially arrested by the special cell of Delhi Police to four days of custody.

Two more accused were arrested on May 9 and were produced before the court on May 10. They were also sent to police custody for a period of two days. Notably, two back-to-back incidents of brutal violence within the walls of Asia’s largest prison -- Tihar Jail -- and leading to the death of two under-trial inmates alerted the prison authorities.
