NEW DELHI: A video-recorded moment turned fatal in east Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar when a 28-year-old property dealer accidentally shot himself while handling a pistol on Monday.
The incident, captured by his cousin on a mobile phone and later circulated on social media, shows the man loading the magazine, inserting it into the weapon, and then placing the pistol against the left side of his chest before it discharged, causing him to collapse.
Police said they received information from the hospital where the victim had been rushed in an unconscious state. He was identified as Pawan Kumar, a resident of the nearby Dallupura village, and was declared dead on arrival with a gunshot wound in the chest.
The incident took place in Dallupura. Crime and forensic teams inspected the hospital and the crime scene. The body was later shifted to the LBS Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination. The pistol was a licensed weapon belonging to the victim’s cousin, Himanshu, who was present at the time and filming the act.
