GULBARGA: Around 20,000 candidates belonging to the Tokre Koli community (Kabbaliga) in the state may soon lose their jobs, said Vithal Herur, Tokre Koli Samaj president.

Speaking to reporters here on Monday, he said the tahsildar’s office which is authorised to issue caste validation certificate and caste certificate had stopped giving them to candidates stating that such a community does not exist. ‘’Due to this about 20,000 candidates may lose their jobs. Many candidates belonging to the community have already got a stay order from courts against their removal,’’ Herur said.

Vithal Herur, a BJP leader who contested the Assembly elections from Gurmitkal constituency, said that if the government fails to correct its mistake, he would stage a protest in Bangalore soon.

He urged the government to establish a Ambigara Choudayya Authority at Choudadaanapur where the samadhi of Ambigara Choudayya exists. To discuss issues related to the community, a meeting of the Tokre Koli Samaj will be held at Rameshwara Sabhagraha here on June 14.

‘’We will pressurise the government to include castes like Kabaliga, Koli, Talawara, Ambiga, Baarakera and Besta into the ST category.

The meeting will also discuss formation of the organisation in all districts,’’ he added.
