BANGALORE: Medical Education Minister Ramachandra Gowda performed, rather, a rare feat by walking from his private residence in Basaveshwaranagar to Vidhana Soudha on Monday. He told Express that he did not want to use the government or private vehicle to express solidarity with the BJP which had given a call for bandh in protest against the increase in prices of petroleum products.
“But at the same time, I should not abdicate my responsibility as minister. There is no question of the government participating in the bandh as it has to run as per the Constitution. Hence, I chose to walk, thereby doing to justice to both government and the party,” he said.
Gowda took about 90 minutes to walk 9 kms from to the secretariat.
“I completed my regular six-km of morning walk around 6.30 am. I left home at about 9.40 am and reached Vidhana Soudha by 11.10,” he said.
