HUBLI: Aslam Baba alias Blade Baba, who is a self-proclaimed surgeon and alleged faith-healer from Bagalkot, was arrested by the police here on Sunday for treating people in spite of being subjected to imprisonment for quackery earlier.

He was reportedly beaten up by the public for deceiving people and later handed over to the police.

According to the police, Aslam Baba had been in Hubli for the last two months and claimed to treat any kind of ailment, including heart diseases, cancer, kidney stones and tumours, without operating and just through miracles. For his services he took large amounts of money from patients.

He had been treating the residents of Gabbur, old Hubli, Bidnal localities. However, suspecting his misdeeds, the residents of Gabbur caught him in the wee hours of Sunday and thrashed him. They later handed him over to Bendigeri police.

Sadiq Mishrakoti of Gabbur has lodged a complaint against Aslam Baba.

The police informed that the Baba is also facing several cheating cases in Bangalore, Sholapur, Mandya, Bijapur districts. It may be recalled that Aslam Baba was in the news for conducting ‘surgeries’ at his Al Heera Hospital in Bagalkot.
