MYSORE: Medical Education Minister S A Ramdas said on Sunday the state has submitted a Rs 1,000 crore proposal to develop 10 medical colleges and hospitals as centres of excellence in the state.
He said that the Centre would contribute Rs 750 crore and the state has to give Rs 250 crore. He said that the funds will be utilised for developing research centres and 24x7 digital library at Mysore Medical College.
He said that development works will be taken up at the Mysore Medical College and bed capacity will be enhanced. The state will also demand more post-graduate seats as the facilities and infrastructure will be further upgraded. Ramdas said that the government has plans to introduce generic medicine in 10 government medical colleges and hospital premises where the companies will supply drug at 50 per cent less than maximum retail price to patients.
