DVS takes almighty swipe at BSY

BANGALORE: Taking an indirect swipe at his predecessor B S Yeddyurappa who is being felicitated by his fans day in and day out, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda on Monday said that nothing can be achieved by such programmes and that he cannot even think of getting felicitated when most parts of the state are reeling under drought.

“I don’t believe in organising felicitations and conventions. This is not the right time for such programmes... moreover, I have no fancy for such programmes,” the chief minister addressed reporters after his Janata Darshan programme at Krishna, his official residence in Bangalore on Monday.

Gowda was reacting to his camp follower and Forest Minister C P Yogeshwar’s plan to organise a rally to felicitate him for presenting a good state budget.

“I will tell them (Yogeshwar) not to indulge in such things. I will not attend any felicitation programme. Instead of spending lakhs on such programmes, it is better if we utilise the amount to tackle the prevailing drought,” Gowda said.

Sadananda Gowda also indirectly ridiculed the Yeddyurappa camp for hiring people to the felicitation programmes organised by them.

“Nothing can be achieved by organising people by paying them. At best, the organisers can get to listen to some appreciative slogans from such a crowd,” the chief minister added.
