BANGALORE: Protesting against the report by the Karnataka Minorities Commission, which unearthed the encroachment or illegal sale of Wakf Board properties worth about Rs 2 lakh crore not being tabled in the Legislature, the State BJP Minority Morcha, along with some leaders, demanded a probe into the report  findings.

However, while the Congress leaders were insistent upon a CBI probe, the Minority Morcha leaders on Monday demanded a Lokayukta or CID enquiry into the matter.

“All names included in the report must be made public and punished and made to return the property,” president of the Minority Morcha Dr Nizamuddin Mohsin told reporters on Monday.

Dr Mohsin alleged that Wakf land was usurped by influential leaders along with IAS and IPS officers. However, he refused to divulge any name.

Announcing plans to increase public awareness about the massive scam that was highlighted by KMC Chairman Anwar Manippady, Mohsin said besides regular dharna and meetings in every district, there would be a massive yatra  from Bidar in North Karnataka to Bangalore in May.

”The amount quoted in the report is only the tip of the iceberg, it is actually much larger,” Dr Mohsin observed.
