SSLC: 33 debarred on Day 1

BANGALORE: On the first day of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations in Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, English and Sanskrit subjects, 33 students were debarred for indulging in malpractice.

Kolar topped the list with 18 students being debarred, followed by Bijapur district with 10 students, Gulbarga with three, Chikkaballapur  and Hassan one each. Director of Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) D Venkateshaiah said the examinations were conducted without hindrance. “Apart from the debarments, the examinations went on well. Most of the cases reported on Monday were about students carrying paper chits with them. We are confident the rest of the examinations will go smoothly,” Venkateshaiah told Express.

Examinations for Indian Economics, Elements of Engineering, Elements of Electronic Engineering and Elements of Computer Science will be held from 10.30 am to 1.45 pm on Tuesday, while Engineering Drawing exam will be held from 2.30 to 5.45pm.
