As many as 16 Bills, including the controversial Karnataka Land Revenue (Amendment) Bill, 2012, would be taken up for debate in the coming Assembly session at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha at Belgaum.
Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah told reporters here that the winter session of the Karnataka legislature would commence at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha from December 5 and go on for eight days.
Informing that as many as five new Bills would be tabled in the House and taken up for debate along with nine pending Bills and two others that were sent back by the Governor for reconsideration, Bopaiah said, “There is also possibilities of receiving more Bills during the session.”
The Assembly will re-look into the controversial Land Revenue (Amendment) Bill 2012, seeking regularisation of unauthorised houses in government land built prior to January 2012, which was passed in the both the Houses in the legislature , however, the Bill was returned by the Governor for re-consideration. During the session the much controversial Bill will be taken up in the Assembly.
Replying to questions, the Speaker said that an inquiry has been ordered to look into the reports of irregularities committed in the recruitment of over 200 posts in the Assembly secretariat recently.
The renovation of the Karnataka Assembly hall and its surrounding lobby area is being taken up and is expected to be completed by January next year. “We are spending about `15 crore for the purpose” he said.
