Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) has threatened to lay siege to State and Union government offices and launch a non-cooperation movement if the government further releases water from KRS to Tamil Nadu.
Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha president K S Puttannaiah said the government should exhibit political will and reject the Cauvery monitering committee decision to release 12 tmc ft of water as there is no water left in the reservoirs of Cauvery basin.
Addressing the protestors here on Sunday, he said that the Cauvery issue cannot be resolved legally and it should be resolved through dialogue between the two states.
He accused Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalaithaa of playing up Cauvery issue and making it an emotional issue for political gains .
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who directed the State to release water to Tamil Nadu has not made attempts to find a permanent solution to the problem, he alleged.
He charged that the Supreme Court Judges, without any knowledge on farming practices, use of water and irrigation, have blindly directed the state to release water when it is short of water to save crops and meet drinking water needs of Bangalore, Mysore and other towns.
