‘Clarification on Lokayukta needed’

BANGALORE: In a clear indication that the Lokayukta report on illegal mining will remain in cold storage, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda on Wednesday said that his government could not take action on the report unless Lokayukta clarified the government’s doubts.

“The government has sought clarifications from Lokayukta on four points. The Lokayukta is yet to respond. Unless we get the clarification, it is not right on our part to discuss the issue,” Gowda told the Legislative Council, while replying to the Opposition’s demand for a debate on the issue under the adjournment motion.

When Opposition members pointed out that the Lokayukta post was vacant, he said: “The Lokayukta institution is still there.”
