BJP MLA threatens to resign in Karnataka

BANGALORE: A ruling BJP MLA today threatened to resign the assembly membership saying he has been marginalised in the party.

M P Kumaraswamy, who represents Mudigere (SC) seat in Chikmagalur, told reporters here that he had decided to quit as MLA as he was upset that despite him taking up the issue, the leadership had not addressed his grievances.

Kumaraswamy said he wanted to meet Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah to hand over his resignation letter, but the presiding officer was not in his office.

When he tried to hand over his resignation letter to the Assembly Secretary, and the official advised him to meet the Speaker tomorrow.

The MLA said he would fax his resignation letter to the Spearker today and call on him tomorrow.

Kumaraswamy is one of the ministerial aspirants and Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has announced plans to expand his ministry shortly.
