TUMKUR: In yet another instance of human-animal conflict, a leopard attacks four persons at Kotturu village in Pavagada taluk on Thursday.

Chandrappa (42) and Murthy (31) were severely and were shifted to a hospital in Bangalore.

Two others — Ramanjinappa (52) and Naveen (28) were admitted to a government hospital in Pavagada town. The victims were in the fields grazing sheep when the animal attacked them at around 12.30 pm.

Later, the people of the village gathered and scared the animal away. They complained that despite the fact that the concerned forest officials were intimated as soon as the attacked happened, they did not turn up until 2 pm. It might have strayed into the fields from Jammulabande forest area of Andhra Pradesh which was adjacent to Kotturu village, sources said. Former minister and Pavagada MLA M Venkataramanappa and district BJP president Shivaprasad visited the victims.
