UDUPI: Even when the Congress and JD (S) governments were in power, there were riots and law and order problems, said state BJP president K S Eshwarappa.

He was replying to a question on whether the recent violence in Bangalore was an example of the state government’s intelligence failure.

He said the BJP’s door-todoor campaign by its boothlevel workers had been kickstarted on Sunday.

He said the Udupi- Chikmagalur by-elections would prove beneficial to the BJP as their opponents -Congress and JD (S)- split the anti-BJP votes.

The party’s internal disputes would not have any impact on the results, he said.
