BANGALORE: More than 2,500 advocates assembled at the City Civil Court Complex on Friday demanding the transfer of DG & IGP Shankar M Bidari and City Police Commissioner B G Jyothiprakash Mirji, in connection with the March 2 violence.
The Bangalore Advocates’ Association had called for a protest against alleged police atrocities against lawyers, and advocates from across the state had gathered in the protest. The advocates also urged for suitable action against media for alleged biased reporting of the riots.
About 20 platoons of KSRP, four companies of Rapid Action Force and 1,000 police personnel were deployed for security in the area.
Police Wear Black Badges to Duty
Meanwhile, the police too registered protest against advocates for allegedly slapping false cases against innocent policemen in connection with March 2 incidents. The Karnataka State Police Association had given a call for a dawn to dusk protest. Staff in most city police stations appeared for duty wearing black badges.
