BANGALORE: The breakfast and lunch meetings hosted by rival groups in the state BJP on Friday in an apparent bid to demonstrate their strength turned out to be an anti-climax with the members of both groups attending the two meetings and exchanging pleasantries.

While the breakfast meeting hosted by former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa was attended by several members identified with his rival camp, the luncheon meeting at Kannada and Culture Minister Govind Karjol’s residence was attended by Yeddyurappa and several of his supporters. However, CM DV Sadanand Gowda, state BJP president KS Eshwarappa, ministers Sureshkumar and R Ashok did not attend both the meetings.

While Municipal Administration Minister Jarakiholi group and independent MLAs gave a miss to BSY’s meeting, they were seen in full attendance at Karjol’s residence.

Speaking to reporters, Yeddyurappa refused to attach any political significance to the meetings. “When I was the CM, I used to host tea parties at Vidhana Soudha itself. Now that I am out of power, I have hosted it at my house,” he said.

On his comeback efforts, Yeddyurappa said he was not behind power and he would wait for the party to take a decision.
