SHIMOGA: The government has introduced the naxal surrender and rehabilitation policy in order to integrate those involved with such outfits with society. Such persons should join society fearlessly and make use of the benefits meant for them, said ad-hoc DG&IGP A R Infant. He was speaking at a function organised to distribute a cheque of `1 lakh, title deeds and two acres of land to Koranakote Krishna alias Comrade Kiran of Hosanagar taluk, who surrendered a year ago, here on Wednesday. Infant commended DC, SP and ZP CEO in implementing government schemes. “If the package needs more benefits, I will ask the government to provide them,” he said. IGP (ANF) Alok Kumar said that unlike Chhattisgarh or Odisha, people are not exploited in Karnataka. He said Shimoga and Chikmagalur should not have developed into a naxal hotbed.
