The much-awaited Kabini drinking water project will finally come as a Dasara gift to more than 25,000 families in Mysore city. District Minister S A Ramdas said work on power supply to the Kabini project had been completed and motors would be fixed in a day. Pumping of 60 mld water would start on October 18 and it would be officially inaugurated on October 22, he said.

Ramdas said that laying of pipes for 32 km has been completed and construction of two ground-level and three overhead tanks was completed to ensure smooth supply of water. More than 30 villages en route would also be supplied with 4 mld of water. He claimed that the rains would solve the drinking water scarcity and raise the water level in Kabini that had less than 1 tmc for farming and drinking.

Rs 5.5 crore for Dasara Works

Ramadas said that Rs 5.5 crore had been released to take up Dasara works in the city. He said that 21 works had been taken up as against 40 works that would be evaluated by an agency to ascertain the quality. CM Jagadish Shettar had been requested to exempt vehicle entry tax for a month instead of one week.
