Lokayukta police raid government staff

The Lokayukta police conducted simultaneous raids at the premises of four public servants on Saturday following complaints of illegal assets.

It was found that Shivappa M Akalawadi, an armed police constable, allegedly has assets worth `73.5 lakh, 188 per cent disproportionate to his known source of income. Similarly, M Chandrasekharaiah, junior engineer at Panchayat Raj division, Kanakapura, reportedly has assets worth `86.8 lakh (160 per cent excess). Basaiah N Itagimata, Gram Panchayat secretary, Sirahatti taluk in Gadag district, has assets worth `51 lakh (165 per cent in excess) and Shivalinga Kondagoli, senior sanitary inspector at Mangalore Mahanagara Palike, has property worth `1.27 crore (133 per cent excess).

The police conducted raids at Bangalore, Mysore, Bagalkot, Gadag, Kanakapura, and Bijapur and registered an FIR on Friday.
