No Congress tickets for those with criminal cases: KPCC

Express News Service

The Congress, which has decided to take the March 7 elections to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) seriously, has decided not to consider those who are facing serious criminal charges while issuing tickets.

KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar told reporters here on Monday the polls are an entry point for party workers to build their career and added that SC/ST and OBC youths and women would be favoured while shortlisting the party nominees. Informing that the party had already appointed observers and a committee comprising senior leaders to decide the nominees, the KPCC president said in a couple of days we will release the party manifesto.

Claiming that the UPA government had released several hundred crores of rupees for developmental works in urban areas, he alleged that the BJP government which was indulging in infighting had failed to utilise it properly. Hinting that several legislators belonging to ruling BJP and the JD(S) are likely to join the Congress, he said they would be admitted into the fold after considering the interests of the party.
