Contractual nurses to get back Jobs

Express News Service

Medical Education Minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil on Tuesday said his department will accommodate the Bangalore Medical College Research Institute (BMCRI) stipendiary nurses, who have cleared exams conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority.

Speaking to reporters after the release of National Tobacco Control Programmes guidelines at BMCRI workshop on “Tobacco Counselling and De-addiction Services,” he said the nurses who were removed by the previous government would be accommodated in six months after they clear exams.

‘We Have Crossed Age Limit to Write Exams’

Reacting to the minister’s statement, a member from BMCRI Stipendiary Nurses’ Association said many members of the association did not appear for the examination as they have crossed the age limit to take the exams.

The nurses had gone on strike from January 9 demanding regularisation of their services, but the Medical Education Department had terminated their contract.
