Chhattisgarh Food and Civil Supplies Minister Punnulal Mohle will be coming here on Friday to further negotiate on price and discuss other issues with his Karnataka counterpart.

According to sources, a team of officials from Chhattisgarh who were supposed to reach on Wednesday have postponed the trip to Friday.

“A clear picture on the price at which the Chhattisgarh government agrees to supply rice, will be decided on Friday,” sources said.

Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao and senior officials of his department will be attending the meeting.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had committed to launch the Rs 1 per kg rice scheme from July 1.

Under this scheme, each BPL  family and Antyodaya Card holders across the state will get rice at for that price.

For this scheme, the state government is planning to buy 30,000 metric tonnes of rice from Chhattisgargh.
