Belagere Krishna Shastri no more

Senior writer, Gandhian and thinker Belagere Krishna Shastri (97) died on Saturday in Bangalore after a prolonged illness.

Krishna Shastri was credit for penning many popular books, including Yegdagella Aithe (Everything is there in Yoga), where he has shared several miracles performed by his mentor Mukundooru Swamiji.

He has worked in many government schools in North Karnataka region where he had built many schools involving villagers. He was running Shree Sharada Mandira Educational Institution in Belagere, Challakere taluk, Chitradurga District and was involved in social work. In 2004, the state government honoured him with Rajyotsava Award .Noted director T N Seetharam said,”When Shastri was 29 years, he lost his wife and two children on the same day. Later, his family members forced him for a second marriage. But he went to the medical college and removed all his teeth to look old so that people don’t force him for a second marriage. His love for life has always attracted me.”
