The CBI special court here remanded B Nagendra, independent MLA from Kudligi, Bellary district, to police custody for a day on Friday.

He was arrested on Thursday evening for his alleged role in illegal mining of iron ore and its export from Belikeri port.

Sources said Eagle Traders and Logistics, in which Nagendra was a partner, sold 6.05 lakh metric tonnes of illegally excavated iron ore to SB Logistics for export.

The CBI also presented Ramakanth Hulur, who was the circle inspector in Sandur, to the judge.

Police had arrested Hulur on Thursday evening in connection with the Belikeri case.

Meanwhile, the CBI court will pass orders on the anticipatory bail application filed by Hospet MLA Anand Singh on Saturday.
