Myriad Diyas light up 'Deepa Soundarya'

With the festival of lights around the corner, the sixth annual edition of the traditional lamp exhibition ‘Deepa Soundarya’ is on at Ramsons Kala Pratishtana till November 4.

With the festival of lights around the corner, the sixth annual edition of the traditional lamp exhibition ‘Deepa Soundarya’ is on at Ramsons Kala Pratishtana till November 4.

The exhibition includes Gaja Deepa, Lakshmi Deepa, Hamsa Deepa, Thugu Deepa, Hut Lamp, Ganesha Lamp, Ashta Lakshmi Lamp among others. Clay lamps from Jaipur, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh depicting their culture too have been displayed.

The specialties at this year’s exhibition will be decorative clay lamps, magic lamps and hanging lamps, which have been brought from Villupuram in Tamil Nadu. The lamps are said to be made in ‘Mehandi design’. More than 800 varieties of colourful lamps of different hues and designs are on display.

Ramsons curator Raghu Dharmendar said the response has been very good, particularly for decorative clay lamps and Gaja Deepas. The lamps are priced from `20 to `3.5 lakh.
