Collection Resumes at Damaged Toll Plaza in Bantwal

Collection at the Brahmarkotlu  toll plaza on NH 75, which was vandalised by a group of miscreants, resumed on Sunday.

On Saturday, a 25-member group had damaged CCTV cameras and window panes of the toll plaza. The accused had also allegedly snatched collections worth `1 lakh from the counter.

Additional police personnell were deployed to prevent any untoward incidents.

Toll plaza contractor Gopalakrishna Melanta said service was resumed after Superintendent of Police Sharanappa promised to provide proper security.

No Arrest So Far

Though a mob damaged the toll booth and CCTV cameras have captured the footage, Bantwal Town police have not arrested any so far. 

However, they have registered a case against 25 men, including Bantwal Town Municipality member Mohammed Sharif.

The police department has already formed separate teams to nab the accused. Investigation is under progress based on images captured by the CCTV cameras.

Meanwhile, police have found that one of the accused has been admitted at a hospital in the city.

Police are planning to arrest him soon after he is discharged. This will help in arresting all the other accused, sources said.
