The state government has come up with a demand for supplementary grants for Rs 4,454 crore for the current fiscal.
An amount of Rs 50 crore for preparation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections has figured prominently in the demands list.
The institution of Lokayukta also figures in the list with Rs 18.17 lakh granted for the purchase of a new car for the Lokayukta. An additional grant of Rs 15 lakh has been made towards general expenses of the Lokayukta. This apart, Rs 5 lakh has been sanctioned towards reimbursement of Rs 5 lakh additionally for the staff of Lokayukta.
The budget for maintenance and running of government guest house Kumara Krupa too has overshot. The state government has been forced to provide an additional grant of `80 lakh towards general expenses and another `65 lakh to meet transport expenses of guests at the guest house.
The Justice R G Vaidyanathan Commission constituted in 2012 to probe violent incidents at the City Civil Court Complex has entailed an additional expenditure of Rs 28 lakh for the exchequer.
The government has been made to shell out Rs 90 lakh to complete formalities of closure of the sick Karnataka State Films Development Corporation. It has also granted Rs 1 crore for advance payment for purchase of a Cessana-172 aircraft for the Government Flying School in Jakkur.
An additional expenditure of Rs 150crore has been made for road repairs and for providing stormwater drains in eight zones of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). Karnataka State Highways Improvement Programme also figures prominently in the supplementary demand list.
The list runs as follows, Rs 13 lakh for reimbursement of medical expenses for officers and staff, Rs 15 lakh additional grant for travel expenses of officers and staff and Rs 10 lakh for general expenses of officers.
