UDUPI: Vishwanatha Koraga Shetty, an underworld don from Udupi, has threatened an employee of Sri Krishna Temple at Udupi for alleged ‘Pankthi Bheda’ (discrimination during mass meal to devotees) by denying to serve meal as prasadam to a woman belonging to the Bunt community as she was sitting in a row said to be meant for Brahmins at the temple recently.

Vanitha Shetty, a lecturer, who had been to the temple with her colleagues, was allegedly singled out from a mass meal row and made to go out from the temple.

Vishwanath Shetty, who is operating from Dubai for the last 14 years, called Express on Thursday and said, “We cannot tolerate Pankthi Bheda. Injustice has been done to Vanitha Shetty. Shankara Bhatta, who was accused of Pankthi Bheda and insulting her, should apologise and compromise with Vanitha Shetty by Friday or else he will not be spared.” Shetty had called from the mobile number +971551012392.

When contacted, Circle Inspector Maruthi Nayak said that except for the threatening call made via media, they did not have any such information.

“Even Shankar Bhat did not receive any such calls. We have clarified. However, we are closely watching the issue,” he said.
