Express News Service

BANGALORE: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Tuesday that the process of appointing presidents and members for boards and corporations has started and will be completed soon.

Speaking to reporters after holding a Janata Darshan here, he said, “For the post of assistant engineers and junior engineers in all the ESCOMs, it has come to my notice that `4,000 is being charged for candidates in the general category and `2,000 for SC/ST category. These rates will be slashed to `1,000 (general) and `500 (SC/STs) with immediate effect.” Siddaramaiah also took offence over reports in the media saying that he did not remove his shoes at the Chamundeshwari Temple during the recent Dasara festivities. He said he is aware of the etiquette to be followed at such ceremonies.

“Memoranda (submitted at Janata Darshans) seeking government jobs will not be entertained,” he  said referring to the case of a youth who approached him seeking a government job. “We will provide necessary training so that the person can find a job suited to his/her requirement,” he said.
