BANGALORE: The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) has called for a state-wide bandh of schools and colleges demanding increase in allocation of funds for education and improving infrastructure in government schools and colleges.

Protests will be staged in four locations in the city and students from 22 districts are expected to participate in the bandh, according to S Chikkaraju, SFI Bangalore District President.

“Students have decided to boycott classes and some private schools have also decided to support the bandh,” he said. Bangalore University College Teacher’s Association president R Ramachandrappa said no official holiday had been declared and it was up to colleges to take a call on whether to function or not.

A memorandum will be submitted to CM Siddaramaiah, Higher Education Minister R V Desphande and Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Kimmane Ratnakar.
