Man Arrested for Brother's Murder

SHIVAMOGGA:  A person who allegedly killed his brother for monetary gain was arrested by police six months after he committed the crime. Kumar (40) of Amatekoppa of Shikaripura taluk killed his brother Umesh on May 1, in a bid to get his life insurance amount.

According to police, Kumar killed Umesh near a bridge outside the village. He later drove a canter vehicle over his head and lodged a complaint, stating that a speeding vehicle ran over his brother.

Kumar had insured Umesh for about `45 lakh, and he was remitting the premium on behalf of his brother. Some of his relatives suspected Kumar was responsible for Umesh’s death. Kumar admitted that he killed his brother to get the insurance amount.
