CM Speaks of Kaal Soup, Set Dosa

Express News Service

BENGALURU: The Legislative Council on Thursday transformed into a place of light-hearted banter and bonhomie briefly. CM Siddaramaiah went nostalgic about his good old student days spent wandering among the food streets of Mysuru, his home district.

He spoke about his exploration of food joints in the streets and bylanes of Mysuru to savour his favourite Kaal soup and set dosa.  Hotels used to serve tasty set dosas for just 12 paise per plate, he said and recollected that a man used to sit in the counter of Raju Hotel and attract customers by his unusual mannerisms.

He also mentioned Mylari Hotel famous for its delectable dosas. When BJP member G Madhusudan mentioned the food joint Tegu mess, famous for its non-vegetarian delights like biriyani, bheja fry and country chicken curry, the CM wondered how the member, a pure vegetarian, knew about that.

Opposition leader K S Eshwarappa said, “Madhu is cent per cent vegetarian and has not even tasted eggs.” The entire House erupted into peals of laughter when Siddaramaiah quipped that those who reach the abode of God without tasting non-vegetarian food during their life would be sent back, and Madhusudan might be one such soul.
